- “NEW COMM ROAD MAP”: Using RSS to personalize your My Yahoo homepage
- Go to My.yahoo.com.
- Create a Yahoo ID or Yahoo mail account if you don’t have one and log in.
- Go to CBSNews.com.
- Click on the XML RSS feeds icon.
- You could Click on the + MyYahoo icon, but for purposes of this exercise, click on the orange XML button next to World.
- You’ll be taken to a page that ends in .rss. In this case: http://www.cbsnews.com/feeds/rss/world.rss.
- Highlight this address and copy it to your clipboard.
- Go to your My Yahoo page and click on the + Add Content tab.
- Next to the text box click Add RSS by URL link.
- You’ll be taken to a page with another text box. Paste the URL that you copied from CBSNews.com and click Add.
- You’ll see a page that says Get World News: CBSnews.com on My Yahoo! and shows the latest stories in that RSS content feed.
- Click the + Add To My Yahoo! button.
- You’ll receive a confirmation that this feed has been added.
- Go to your My Yahoo homepage. Scroll down and look for the block that says World News: CBSNews.com and has five links. You can click on any of those links and you’ll be taken directly to the story.
- You can also move this feed box to the top of the page and personalize this page.
- Have a feed you don’t like? Look for the small X at the top right of a content box. Click that and the feed will be deleted.
- “NEW COMM ROAD CITATION”: FoxNews.com
